Tips for optimising the tracking performance of XR systems :
- Large playing area : It is advisable to have a playing area of at least 3 metres by 3 metres. This generous space allows the XR system to track your movements effectively.
- Adequate lighting : Make sure the playing area is well lit, as this enables the XR trackers to detect your movements accurately and reduce tracking errors.
- Safe distance : Place your XR trackers at least 1.5 metres away from any obstacles or obstructions. This distance ensures that the trackers have a clear line of sight and can follow your movements without interference.
- Decorative motifs : Decorating your environment with artwork or patterns on the walls, ceiling and floor can be beneficial for tracking. These visual cues can help the XR system identify reference points and improve tracking accuracy.
AI-Enhanced
How can a tracker capture movement without being attached to the body? The secret lies in the two cameras of the VIVE Ultimate Tracker. Equipped with two cameras, this innovative system can more precisely determine the depth and position of objects. By leveraging computer vision combined with AI technology, it identifies up to 26 tracking points, ensuring detailed and precise full-body tracking. Additionally, multiple trackers can operate simultaneously, making it ideal for complex or multi-person scenarios.
Despite its advanced AI integration, the VIVE Ultimate Tracker remains accessible with its "plug-and-play" design. The setup is simple and quick, ensuring a seamless development and creative process that even beginners can easily master. Moreover, the VR tracker is compliant with the OpenXR standard, ensuring compatibility with other XR platforms and applications. Developers thus benefit from greater flexibility and choice in their projects.
Versatile Applications Through AI
The AI motion capture technology of the VIVE Ultimate Tracker opens up a wide range of application possibilities. In medical rehabilitation, it can monitor patient movements and assess treatment outcomes. For professional sports training, coaches can analyze athletes' movements to refine training programs. In the world of entertainment and gaming, whether at home, in amusement parks, or art exhibitions, users can engage directly through body movements, creating a plethora of innovative experiences.
For VTubers, achieving perfect 3D model capture has typically required renting expensive motion capture studios to achieve precise real-time full-body tracking, a cost often borne by corporate entities. However, with the VIVE Ultimate Tracker, individual creators can now achieve precise motion capture themselves, significantly lowering barriers to entry and costs.
This cutting-edge AI motion capture technology is still in the testing phase. Stay tuned as we continue to provide you with the latest updates on this revolutionary development!

What is HTC's VIVE Ultimate Tracker ?
VR headsets recognise head and hand movements, using external base stations or internal cameras to monitor the position of the VR headset and controllers.
But what about your body, legs and other objects ? The Vive or Tundra trackers take care of that, and each solution requires SteamVR base stations. VR PC users will be more familiar with this solution than Quest 2 or Pico 4 VR headset owners, as these standalone headsets use inside-out tracking.
Up to five standalone Vive trackers can be connected wirelessly to your VR headset via a USB-C dongle. The new tracker is also smaller and lighter than the Vive Tracker 3.0, weighing just 94g, which could make it more comfortable for longer VR sessions when worn as a body tracker. The same pins and mounting system are available, as well as a new quick release mechanism.
